The printer can work with all the latest and older versions of the Windows operating system and that of Macintosh. The Microsoft Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP all of them are fully compatible with the printer. The latest Mac OS X 10.14 operating system is compatible with the printer and the other lower versions of Macintosh can also support the printer.
The optimal working mechanism of this machine can print the first page within 10.5 seconds. After this, the printing speed goes up to 40 pages per minute. The HP REt technique combined with HP ProRes 1200 has enabled it to achieve print resolution of 1200×1200 dpi.
The most important feature of this printer is that it can print up to 100,000 pages in one month. The print languages supported by HP LaserJet Enterprise 700 M712dn are HP PCL 6, HP PCL 5 and PostScript 3.
The three trays of the printer can hold 250 sheets each in two of them. The third tray has a capacity of 100 multi-purpose sheets. The output tray capacity is also 250 sheets for all kinds of sheets. Including plain sheets, it can also support legal paper, card stock, envelopes, label, transparency and vellum paper.
For external connectivity, the printer has one USB 2.0 slot. Along with it, the internal memory of the printer is 512 MB which can be increased to 1 GB if the need arises.

Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer
Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click the Download button on this page.
- Click the downloaded file. The files will be extracted and the installation process will automatically begin.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to continue and complete the installation.
Mac
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded file and mount it on the Disk Image.
- Then Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
- Double-click the packaged file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.
To install later, select Save in step 4 and choose a location on your hard disk. When ready to install, search and double-click the file. This will automatically extract and start the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen to continue the installation.
