The printer’s inkjet technology has a 5-ink system with a minimum ink droplet size of 1 picolitre (pl). At the same time, it contains the FINE print head type with ContrastPLUS. When printing at the photo lab mode, the quality speed is up to 41 seconds per page. On the other hand, monochrome printing is 7.3 images per minute (ipm). Whereas, color printing on the ESAT template is at the speed of 5.5 ipm.
The machine allows a single ink technology with five separate ink tanks such as PGI-520BK, CLI-521BK, CLI-521C, CLI-521m, and CLI-521Y. Each of these cartridges has varying capacities of what they can print. For instance, printing with PGI-520BK, pigment black cartridge, implies 34 pages of the document and 4520 photos. On the other hand, distribution with the CLI-521BK indicates 3425 pages in black and 815 photos by estimated yield.
Scanning with this machine works through its flatbed contact image sensor (CIS) part for color production. The scanner optical resolution is up to 2400 x 4800 dpi, while the digital is 19200 x 19200 dpi. In terms of the color scanning depth, input and output depths are 48bit and 24bit. But the greyscale or halftone depth for input and output are 16bit and 8bit, respectively. It is also compatible with TWAIN/WIA components for Windows XP and Windows Vista-based systems. [Installation Instructions] How to Download / Installation procedure
Note: Do not connect the USB cable until requested by the installer. If you connect to the network, make sure the network cable is connected before running the installer
Windows
- Close all software programs running on your computer.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click the Download button on this page.
- Click the downloaded file. The files will be extracted and the installation process will automatically begin.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to continue and complete the installation.
Mac
- Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.
- Double-click the downloaded file and mount it on the Disk Image.
- Then Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
- Double-click the packaged file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.
To install later, select Save in step 4 and choose a location on your hard disk. When ready to install, search and double-click the file. This will automatically extract and start the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen to continue the installation.
